Just recently i had an enquiry to custom-make a 'Medi Alert' bracelet for a customers family member.
It had to be something that was secure (as the original alert bracelets kept falling off), looked good (as the wearer was young) and of course carried out its purpose of being visible to emergency medical attention if needed.

I was really happy with the finished bracelet- customised 'peace beads' style and more importantly so was my customer!!!!
A nice modernised, secure alternative to the old 'Medi Alert' bracelets. . . . xx

One more sleep and we are off to New Zealand for 12 days... All online orders will be delayed and sent out on my return the week of 23rd August along with emails and phone inquires. To my delight, i received the July issue of VOGUE in the mail this week and it reminded me that i had not yet blogged about an article i really loved in the in last months Vogue (JUNE '10)....

"10 Golden Rules of Great Style" page 72, Rule No.5-

So beautifully worded together it begins with...
'Never underestimate the talismanic quality of jewellery: every piece should evoke a certain moment in your life'
And continues onto quote jeweller Tim Binns...
"Memories are all there is. They are the real diamonds."
and
"As you get older you appreciate your memories more. So if something you buy maintains a sentiment, then the value is immeasurable, no matter what it is."

This is something i truly believe, which shows on my arms... in my car... on the walls in my studio and in my bedroom... whether it be my parents wedding rings i carry, a feather found and given, Rani's first scarob sunshine that hangs on my key chain or the many pieces of turquoise i wear almost ritualistically. They all evoke memories of pivotal moments in my life so far... they make up my story, remind me of the beauty that i have experienced and am yet to encounter...
They are the "real diamonds".

Binns is later quoted saying that the most important element is having an original idea hanging on your body.
"There is nothing worse than seeing somebody wearing bad copies of a good idea"
